Irene Davidson personified professionalism and dedication in the Child
Welfare System. Working as a professional advocate on behalf of the
Guardian Ad Litem Program in Judge Lederman's courtroom, she
established exceptional working relationships with the all court and
Department personnel. Irene always made it possible to effect change
for the children for which she advocated. She always found a way
through the maze of bureaucracy that others found impenetrable.
Irene was always fair and thoughtful about issues, working tirelessly to
improve the quality of the information that gets to the judge and
enhance her own knowledge and expertise without seeking recognition
or acknowledgment for her efforts. Her personal integrity and ethics
were beyond reproach.
Her passion to speak up for the children who have no voice had no
barriers. Whether, it was assisting in other divisions, speaking to a
child outside of court regarding their wishes, to serving on the Board
of Neat Stuff, an organization that provides new clothing to dependent
children in the system, Irene did it all. Her co-workers will tell you
that the word "NO", just didn't exist in her vocabulary.
She was a true hero to all of us.
